Farewell Function
FAREWELL FUNCTION FOR FR. PHILIP KEMMY
This weekend we bid farewell to Fr. Philip Kemmy after seven years of dedicated priestly ministry in our midst. In fact, this was Father Philip’s second ‘stint’ as a priest at the Cathedral, having been appointed here for two years in 2008, shortly after his ordination to the priesthood in 2007. Father Kemmy would not want any praise in either speech or writing; suffice to say we have all benefitted – parishioners and fellow priests – from his dedicated priestly ministry in the care of souls, and the celebration of word and sacrament.
We all wish him every blessing as he takes on the responsibilities of Parish Priest of Newtowncunningham and Killea. May God, who has begun this good work within him, bring it completion. Everyone who would like to bid Fr. Philip farewell are welcome to Mass at 12 noon this Sunday, and afterwards to informal refreshments at the Divine Mercy Centre where there will be an opportunity to greet him in a relaxed and unhurried setting.
To make this afternoon a success – we need your help! We are looking for ‘BAKERS’ willing to Bake (traybakes etc. – no sandwiches please) for this occasion and ‘HELPERS’ to assist in the preparation of the venue. If you are willing to bake or help, please contact Mary on 086-0870446 before Wednesday 10th August.
